Good thing I packed my gladiator sandals and vintage maxi dress for Governor’s Ball last weekend.  They made a nice base layer at the bottom of my suitcase.  My definition of “festival chic” changed real quick last Friday as images started rolling in on Instagram of what Madison and I were in store for that afternoon.  We feasted our eyes on more mud than we have seen in a lifetime, ponchos galore (trashbags included), soaked/soiled clothing, and missing shoes.  Did we surrender to the weather gods and stay in our cozy apartment?  Nope!  We did what any style seeking gal would do in a fashion pickle – we asked, WWKMD? (What Would Kate Moss Do, obvs)

We knew she would provide the answer we needed – off to the shoe store for Hunter rain boots we went.

Voila!  We were now bound to our new rubber friends from the knee down for the next 3 days.

Once the ensemble challenges were crushed, we proceeded to enjoy a weekend of amazing performances and were made fans of some bands that were new to us – here is a list of the latest additions to our playlists:

Icona Pop – all 6 songs are treadmill worthy

Paper Diamond – his mix of old school hip hop had us at hello

Alt J – their music has been described as “addicting”. Totes get it now

Azealia banks – outfit alone sold me

Kendrick Lamar – no explanation necessary

Gary Clark Jr – just makes me feel cooler

Lastly, we would like to dedicate this post to one one of our fallen soldiers who is recovering from our wild weekend in NYC Presbyterian Hospital.  You have about 300 days until we are swing dancing again in the mud at Coachella, so get goin!  We love you C and no one rocks a captain’s hat like you kiddo!
